Working for Southend-on-Sea City Council offers a challenging and rewarding career in local government within a collaborative and innovative environment. As a Unitary Authority we are responsible for all local government functions ranging from regulatory services, transport, public health and parks through to planning, social services, community safety and education, so we offer a wide range of career opportunities. Your new role

This contract is within an established team and is being offered on a hybrid work pattern (blend of working from home, visiting schools / educational settings and in the office).
As an Education Recovery Project Officer, you will support educational review processes at an individual pupil level, working with schools, partners and parents to ensure processes are co-produced and in line with Council expectations. This will involve school visits as well as collaborative working with health and social care.
You will provide individual case management support for children, young people and adults with additional and special educational needs as part of the LA's Education Recovery programme. You will ensure support and arrangements are communicated with parents, schools and settings in a clear and timely way so that any reviews and associated records are in place. You will ensure that children and young people with SEND have a voice which is listened to, so that they are Prepared for Adulthood (PfA) from the earliest age. You will maintain accurate records of the resources for children and young people which are allocated to individual pupils from external grant funding/agencies and to liaise with finance colleagues as required.
The role will be a blend of based at the civic centre, visiting schools and other settings and some hybrid working but depending on needs of school/service this may change.
Candidates must have the ability to independently travel in and outside of Southend. There may be a requirement for some work outside of regular office hours, such as attendance at community events or review meetings.
What you\'ll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, previous experience of working in another local authority or in a school/education setting would be essential. It is essential that you have good knowledge and understanding of the services and support available for Children and Young People with SEND. You need to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with families, headteachers, parent / carers, educational leaders and partner agencies both verbally and in writing. It is essential that you can build meaningful relationships with key stakeholders across all levels as you will be liaising with various people from different backgrounds.
To be considered for this role, it is vital that you have knowledge of SEN processes in an educational setting. You must be well organized, able to use efficient time management systems as well be able to prioritize and meet deadlines. It is also essential that you have good knowledge and understanding of the wide range of needs of Children and Young People with additional Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
What you\'ll get in return
If you join the Council, you will enjoy a range of benefits including flexible working (with a blended approach to office and home working), salary sacrifice schemes, 25 days holiday in a full-time contract (excluding bank holidays) and excellent training and development opportunities.
