Salary: £15.08 p/h

Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Caterpillar Shrewsbury engineering workshop for a permanent fitter / tester. In the engineering workshop a fitter / tester will build, test and provide field support for military engines, transmissions and powerpacks. The successful incumbent will report to the development & applications engineering manager and will be an integral member of a broader verification and validation team.

Travel requirements: about 10% international
Single shift, 4 day working week, Monday to Thursday
What You Will Do:
Build and test of inline 6 prototype engine products, cross-drive transmissions and powerpacks (Combined engine, transmission & cooling system assembly).
Capacity to work from engineering drawings only i.e. without standard work.
Capacity to use standard production and bespoke engineering test cell control systems e.g. Dataq Pro.
Supporting the development of conceptual ideas during early prototype project phases.
Carry out field trial support as needed in the international space as needed.
Close liaison with Engineering community, communication with internal / external customers.
Use of machine & hand tools, Use of basic electrical meters for interrogation and functionality purposes.
Use of crack detection & pressure testing methods to check the integrity of components / assemblies.
Use of forklifts / hand trucks, cranes and lifting equipment.
What You Have:
NVQ level 3 or equivalent City & Guilds plus Apprenticeship (preferred)
Mechanical system experience
Work experience in same/similar position
Good communication skills
Experience within fault diagnostics, test and power pack products
Engineering experience
Field support experience
