Following the announcement regarding Tesco's strategic partnership with Barclays, this role will support our insurance and money services business and will remain with Tesco.

We are looking for an EngineerLead - Software to lead multiple cross disciplined engineering feature teams.
- Technical Challenges: The role involves designing, building, testing, supporting, and delivering customer-facing web applications. This provides an opportunity to work with JavaScript/Typescript, React, and NodeJS deployed on AWS
- Leadership Role: You'll lead multiple cross-disciplined engineering feature teams, providing an opportunity to demonstrate and enhance your leadership skills.
- Influence on Direction: You'll have the opportunity to set the direction and drive through service improvements, features, and changes. This allows you to make a significant impact on the product and the team.
- Mentorship Opportunities: You'll work closely with all engineers on your team, from seniors to juniors, mentoring and building their careers. This provides a chance to share your knowledge and help others grow.
- Collaborative Environment: We encourage engineers to share new ideas, challenge existing practices, and look for opportunities to improve their teams and the wider engineering community creating a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Subject Matter Expertise: You will act as a subject matter expert with architecture, product, cloud, and testing teams, allowing you to showcase and further develop your expertise.
- Career Advancement: Working closely with principal engineers on longer-term technology goals provides an excellent opportunity for career advancement.

We need you to have:
- In-depth knowledge of JavaScript, Node and one UI framework (such as React) along with the tool ecosystem
- Ability to deliver high quality code that can lead to rapid delivery allowing us to pursue continuous integration and delivery
- Deep understanding of web security concepts leading to secure code by default
- Write clean, well-tested code which can be easily maintained by large teams
- Experience of best practises around unit testing in the JavaScript ecosystem
- Understanding and exposure to integrating REST/SOAP API endpoints
- Exposure to DevOps toolsets and CI/CD concepts
- Experience of supporting and running the services you have developed
And if you have any of these, even better.
- Knowledge of TypeScript
- Working knowledge of AWS services
- Understanding of containerisation technologies
- Experience of coaching both junior and senior software engineers
- Knowledge of Agile practises and ceremonies
