The Role
We have an exciting new opportunity for an Analyst to join our Sustainability Team. The Environmental Sustainability team is the CAA’s delivery and regulatory reporting function which supports the delivery of the Government Jet Zero and the CAA’s own Sustainability strategies. Our primary focus is enabling and supporting the delivery of these strategies through the provision of accurate information. We provide technical reporting on all aspects of aviation noise, including airport noise, noise policy development, and research about the health effects of aircraft noise. We also provide technical reporting on all aspects of Carbon production, and reduction.
The CSP Environmental Analyst will be expected to analyse a range of aviation environmental data in relation to aviation noise, greenhouse gas emissions and local air quality, providing concise and accurate information for use by the CAA and Government in the development of environmental reports and public policy.
Core Accountabilities
- Undertake accurate numerical and textual analyses of the environmental impacts of aviation and, where required, produce concise reports detailing these findings in accordance with the CAA’s brand and drafting guidance.
- Actively develop knowledge of, and capability to use, environmental impact principles, practices, and equipment.
- Actively contribute to the modernisation of systems, tools and practices, with a view to raising efficiency and effectiveness (including data quality).
- Engage with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including industry and Government.
- Exhibit CAA’s values, including effective professional/personal development of self/colleagues.
About You
To be considered for this role you will have the knowledge, skills and experience:
- Good interpersonal skills, including an ability to adapt appropriately to deal with people at all levels.
- Relevant academic or professional experience in data analysis is essential, preferably in the field of environmental science. Experience of applying this knowledge in an aviation setting would be desirable.
- Analytical and data management skills, with knowledge and experience of using Microsoft Excel and SQL are essential.
- Good knowledge of Statistical Analysis and presentation
- Coding skills are essential, preferably with experience in using VBA, C# and R.
- Good knowledge of Power BI is desirable.
- Practical experience of working collaboratively with others across internal and external multi-disciplinary groups

For many appointments within the CAA, these roles require access to operationally sensitive infrastructure and/or Nationally Protected information. For these roles the post holders must undergo National Security Vetting and achieve the appropriate level of clearance.
