Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Analyst

As an ESG Analyst for the UK & Lloyd’s Region you will support the Head of ESG, ESG Manager and UK&L leaders in developing a clear strategy and plan to execute which is consistent with both the strategic plans of the Region and the work of AXA XL and AXA Group on ESG matters.
This role is considered both a technical and customer-facing position, working hand-in-hand with internal colleagues and meeting with key clients and brokers and with other key external stakeholders (regulators, other carriers etc), to support the Region’s underwriting and marketing strategies.
You will work closely with the Strategy, Underwriting and Distribution teams as well as other functions including Risk, Claims and Operations.

What will your essential responsibilities include?
· You will support the development of an annual ESG Strategy consistent with AXA XL UK&Lloyd’s underwriting strategies and objectives.
· Regularly work with underwriters and other functions to identify risks and opportunities relating to Key ESG issues.
· Develop and deliver strategic and operational objectives that will result in early “wins” to achieve short-term success aligned to the annual plan.
· Project manage key initiatives including new product and services development and chairing the internal ESG Network, by being able to hold a clear vision, work with agility to adapt to changes and still drive delivery.
· Foster a culture to deepen knowledge within the business of our ESG approach including delivering relevant training, working with the Underwriting Academy, relevant partners and ensuring we leverage Division and Group capabilities.
· Collaborating with the business line leaders to promote widespread action on environmental, social and governance issues, driving new product development to support Key ESG initiatives including measuring and reporting on product impacts.
· Support underwriting and distribution teams in developing “go to market” opportunities aligned with our ESG strategy.
· Researching and monitoring emerging ESG issues and identifying and recommending actions to ensure our business is fit for the future.
· Work with key stakeholders to research and recommend on how we can harness relevant ESG data for better client and AXA XL outcomes.
· Collaborating with the CRO office and others to implement best practices, develop relevant stress tests and internal controls to support ESG risk management and support our responses to regulatory consultations and activity.
· Work with internal and external stakeholders, including Risk Engineering, Innovation and Global Sustainability to support development of ESG specific client services.
· Engage with AXA Group and other AXA Entities to share knowledge and best practice to achieve ESG related business objectives, leveraging work in other entities for the benefit of UK &Lloyd’s.
· Perform secretary duties for the ESG governance committee, including compiling agendas, pre-reads and delivering minutes.
You will report to the Head of ESG, UK & Lloyds.

· Project Management: Ability to manage several projects and stakeholders at once with excellent communication skills is essential. You will be a self-starter who will thrive in a team-oriented environment. · Clear communicator: You will be an excellent communicator across all mediums – verbally, visually and written. You will be able to clearly express your views and explain tasks to stakeholders and be a confident public speaker to present to both internal and external audiences on both the strategy and the initiatives you are working on.
· Creative thinker: An open-minded individual, able to think outside the box and think big. Able to rally people around an idea and able to translate an idea into tangible action and through to delivery. You will be able to work with agility and conviction; not scared of failure, you will identify when to stop development of an idea and see this as a learning experience to apply to future projects.
· Experience: Experience within a project management function is desired, for example exposure within consulting, operations, or client services. More important is a passion for the topic at hand with a natural interest in ESG issues and actions to address them. An undergraduate degree is desired and a Master’s Degree and/or progress towards a professional insurance certification preferred.
· Technical Acumen: A good understanding of the insurance marketplace is desired, you will be market savvy and know what the competition is doing from a product and marketing perspective and quickly grasp market challenges and opportunities.
