Key Responsibilities
- To ensure the safe collection of scheduled recycling and waste collections on a daily basis
- To continuously reduce collection complaints/problems, improve service delivery quality and maximise the areas recycling performance
- To promote a professional image with your team representing the local area
- To empty and return the full range of recycling and waste containers on the allocated round
- To safely load and remove wheeled bins used for residual/trade waste, garden waste and recycling materials using bin lift mechanisms
- To transfer materials from all recycling containers into the correct compartments within the vehicle, including separating mixed materials in certain containers
- To inspect recycling containers for contamination and leave non-collection information / cards stating the reason, where appropriate.
- Where necessary, collect all associated side waste (e.g. at collection points) and recycling that may not be contained within containers.
- To collect, empty and return containers from inside alleyways and passages where restricted space exists outside alley gates and collection points.
- To remove any spillage and leave the area in a clean and tidy state.
- To communicate with managers, colleagues and members of the public as necessary in accordance with the Council’s standards.
- To respond to customers in a courteous and helpful manner
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a good practical understanding of recycling and waste collection and demonstrate a good knowledge of safe working practices.
