Job description

Founded in 1894, City, University of London is a global university committed to academic excellence with a focus on business and the professions and an enviable central London location. City attracts around 20,000 students (over 40% at postgraduate level), from more than 150 countries and staff from over 75 countries. In the last decade City has almost tripled the proportion of its total academic staff producing world-leading or internationally excellent research. During this period City has made significant investments in its academic staff, its estate and its infrastructure and continues to work towards realising its vision of being a leading global university. Background Following the appointment of our new President, Professor Anthony Finkelstein, we are developing a new strategy which will give equality, Diversity and Inclusion a much greater focus and will be central to the strategic direction we are taking. We are also renewing our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy and have formed a new Office for Institutional Equity & Inclusion, which plays a critical role in helping us to prioritise staff and student development, engagement, accreditation, monitoring and integrated practice improvement needs. Led by the Assistant Vice-President (EDI) who reports to the President, and the Head of EDI, the Office for Institutional Equity & Inclusion is a single University-wide unit actively and passionately transforming our organisational culture and supporting the progression and success of our staff and students. The EDI Officer role will support this ambition by providing the EDI team with high quality support. Responsibilities You will work collaboratively with team members, and key stakeholders in the development and delivery of plans to support advancing equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) initiatives to deliver cultural change. As first point of contact, you will facilitate the maintenance of staff affinity networks, providing support and assisting networks to increase visibility, host EDI events and participate in University wide activities. You will support the collection, analysis and presentation of robust data to measure impact and progress of EDI work. You will work with the EDI Board to deliver EDI relevant initiatives; leading on records maintenance, organising meetings, and servicing the Board. Collaborating with stakeholders including staff affinity networks, the Students Union, the Communications team and Organisational Development you will support the development of related EDI initiatives; acting as lead on key awareness raising events and inductions. Person Specification You will ensure that we not only meet our equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) ambitions, but support and enable the pursuit of excellence in all that we do. You will have experience of working in the EDI field with a focus on planning, organising and delivering events. Please click on the 'Apply' button above for more detailed information.
