Job description

The role of General Manager is pivotal to Scale’s continued growth and success. The successful candidate will be a talented and passionate events manager who also has an equal ability to ensure the company’s operations run smoothly in the background.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will manage the day-to-day operations of the studio, liaising with the bar manager, building managers and suppliers, whilst also being the first point of contact for clients looking to use our unique space. You will provide a professional and personal service to our clients, ensuring every stage of their event exceeds their expectations, from the moment we receive their first enquiry through to the moment we wave them goodbye after their event.

For the most part, this role will be worked Monday to Friday. However, some weekend working is required.

Key responsibilities:

  • Safe and efficient running of the venue, liaising with building management, contractors and suppliers, ensuring health, safety and security is maintained at all times
  • Managing bookings and enquiries, ensuring each client receives a swift, engaging response
  • Client relationship management, building rapport with existing and new clients, and ensuring an excellent customer experience
  • Deputising for the CEO, providing day-to-day management and leadership to the team, and organising staff and resources for events
  • Networking and relationship-building with groups and companies in the surrounding areas, promoting the unique and versatile space we have, encouraging referrals and future bookings
  • Gathering client feedback, analysing event success and contributing to strategy and continued business growth

Candidate Requirements:

  • Proven experience in managing and delivering events to a consistently high standard
  • Experience managing and coordinating weddings
  • Experience overseeing the operations of a venue, including management of Health & Safety
  • Proactive and professional approach, able to prioritise, work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Be responsible, reliable and be prepared to be flexible, happy to get stuck in and do what is needed to ensure success
  • Strong organisational, decision-making and listening skills
  • A keen eye for detail and passion for creating unique and exceptional events
  • Ability to problem-solve, finding creative solutions to problems where necessary
  • Be personable and able to build and maintain rapport with clients 
  • A strong leader, able to manage a team that works and wins together
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
