About the role
The Event assistant is an integral part of the NOC events team. Duties include supporting the organising of internal and external conferences, science meetings, business, promotional, engagement and social events. Undertaking the administrative and operational support to the Event Management team including the operation of the meeting spaces and working with the other teams who prepare and maintain the meeting and event spaces.
The role is a first step into Event Management and will involve developing skills in the administrative tasks and operational skill needed to develop and deliver world leading events while being able to be flexible and think on their feet adapting to change in a professional manner.
Income generation is a key element of the role. Income from the events team is used to support the ground breaking science and research delivered by the wider NOC teams.
As one of the most innovative Oceanographic research facilities we proactively look at new income generation paths making use of spare capacity within the NOC portfolio of spaces. Making use of an exciting portfolio of facilities within our Southampton and Liverpool sites.
About you
You will continually look for new and innovative ways of planning and delivering events acting as a face of NOC meeting clients at all stages in the event planning and delivery process. You will demonstrate a good understanding of event planning and delivery Showing confidence in interactions with all levels of NOC colleagues, partner organisations and clients.
Previous experience of event operations, event administration or hospitality will be essential and a good platform to develop our event career.

Location
This position will be based in Southampton. The centre is well connected by public transport and has ample cycle parking in addition to free onsite car-parking.
