Our client is a UK based charity which gets young people enthusiastic about science and engineering by challenging them to design, build and race an electric car.
They supply age appropriate Kit Cars, which can be built in school, college or elsewhere and raced at motorsport venues at organised events. Alternatively, older participants can design and build their own car within certain regulations. Our client's challenge uses the excitement of motorsport to inspire young people to excel in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM).
- They work with over 700 teams throughout the UK and hold 30+ regional events and an International Final every year.
- More than 10,000 students take part each year, from primary school age through to university.
A growing number of international teams participate in the events and the USA, Iberia, and Benelux run programmes under the our clients license.
As the Event Manager you will hold responsibility for:
- The event organisation, and administration, including planning and organisation of the non–track and on track activities; administration; development and management during the events, including health and safety, safeguarding, and reporting
- You will be the main contact for Race venues and manage the relationships
- You will work with the Events Coordinator and Assistant, to make sure that all elements are in place such as arrangements for volunteer recruitment; caterers, toilets, liaising with teams regarding registration and entry prior to and during events
- You will also take a lead in ensuring that event information is designed in line with branding guidelines
Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- To plan and arrange all the race events each year, and ensure all the administrative aspects of them are coordinated and run smoothly.
- To act as the Race Secretary for each event and ensure that all other staffing requirements for each event are staffed.
- Make a positive contribution to Team meetings, and ongoing communication with the wider team regarding the events.
- Manage incidents and complaints during events so that they are effectively addressed.
- Develop a recruitment and training programme for young people so that they can become Greenpower Young Leaders who can help during events.
- Develop Events to encompass more STEM engagement activities
Essential Experience Required:
- Recruiting and managing staff
- Managing or overseeing staff and volunteers.
- Leading and planning events
- Public speaking to large groups
- Creating and managing a budget
- Safeguarding and dealing with safeguarding disclosures
- Dealing with health and safety elements and addressing problems effectively
Desirable Experience:
- Experience of running motorsport events
- Educated to Degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent experience.
Skills:

- Salary: GBP28,000 to GBP34,000 per annum depending on experience
- Location: Fontwell, West Sussex
- Full–time, Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week with regular weekends and evenings
