Description
|
PURPOSE OF ROLE:
The main purpose of this role is to organise the planning, coordination and delivery of our parks and leisure events programme, maximising the income available from these events through third-party event hires.
The role will also help with the development and implementation of the LBH Events Strategy which will see new events take place within the borough, hosted by the London Borough of Hounslow, along with an increase in community led and managed events.
The role will also be responsible for helping the events and wider communications team in encouraging people to visit Hounslow and to develop Hounslow as a destination borough.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Corporate
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and make a proactive contribution to delivering council objectives and priorities.
- Deliver customer-focused services in alignment with both corporate and departmental aims and priorities.
- Achieve a high level of performance and effectiveness in the operational delivery of communications and events services.
- Support organisational change and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and efficiency.
Functional
- To coordinate and deliver financially viable, excellent events in our parks and open spaces and other council venues in accordance with our agreed events programme and events strategy.
- Seek out new opportunities to maximise income and put forward proposals to the Events Programme Manager and Head of Communications and Events for new / improved events.
- Ensure all events have a benefit to both the local community and the London Borough of Hounslow, and where appropriate, encourage visitors to the borough, helping to create a destination borough.
- Ensure health and safety of all stakeholders is the first priority of event delivery. Ensure HSEQ compliance in areas under your control.
- To work with the Events Programme Manager in the planning and delivery of the Civic events programme and other corporate events as they arise.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
- A sound knowledge of events management and practices.
- Highly developed understanding of audience needs.
- A sound understanding of the future direction and vision for the council and local government in general.
- An understanding of local government and its political/corporate environment.
- Solid experience of delivering events in a large customer-led organisation.
- A track record of working collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders.
- Broad experience of facilitating and coordinating a variety of events e.g. from small scale community events, to large scale festivals.
- Proven experience of working under pressure, meeting tight deadlines and working flexibly in response to changing circumstances.
