Job Title: Executive Director, Case Management Safety Operations and Systems, Worldwide Patient Safety
The Worldwide Patient Safety group is responsible for ensuring the safety of our medicines. This includes all pharmacovigilance and pharmaco-epidemiology deliverables including single case and aggregate safety monitoring, safety reporting, contribution to benefit-risk assessment, risk management planning and strategy, and execution of certain post-marketing commitments and ensuring compliance with global regulatory requirements.
Position Summary:
Provide strategic leadership, organizational management and oversight of the individual Case Management, evaluation, assessment and reporting
Provide strategic oversight and ensure adequate management of the global safety database
Provide strategic oversight and management of the Case Management business process outsourcing
Ensure global compliance and quality excellence with all applicable safety guidelines and regulations
Position Responsibilities:
Create the strategy and vision for the Global Safety Operations organization that addresses the Enterprise needs and vision for the future
Manage, lead and motivate a diverse team of WWPS leaders and individual contributors with diverse responsibilities and backgrounds at multiple BMS locations, continuously monitoring and adjusting the work/resource balance among teams and sites in order to ensure optimal quality and productivity
Oversee all aspects of the management of individual case safety reports, Including receipt, processing and global reporting and aggregate submissions, both investigational and marketed, for all products for which BMS has safety responsibilities
Ensure efficient and compliant processing, assessment and expedited reporting of all individual cases
Provide senior level input into and drive continuous process improvements
Accountable for all activities associated with the global safety database, including emergency updates and enhancements
Be a part of the WWPS senior leadership team and contribute to the overall strategy and direction of the WWPS organization
Degree Requirements:
Graduate Degree with strong medical and/or scientific background, PharmD or MD preferred
Experience Requirements:
A minimum of 15 years pharmaceutical industry experience, with a minimum of 10 years' experience in pharmacovigilance, drug development, clinical development or regulatory affairs
Key Competency Requirements:
Strong leadership and management skills
Demonstrates effective oral/written communication and strong interpersonal relationship skills
Communicates vision and supporting strategies with clarity, consistency, and impact to align stakeholder activities regarding safety reporting requirements
Advocates the highest standards of quality and compliance; supports the organization to maintain compliant with existing global regulations, compliance requirements and internal policies and procedures.
Is well connected in industry and expert in current standards and trends in pharmacovigilance
Experienced with Safety Database solutions and able to identify and manage areas for improvement
Well versed with the Microsoft Office Suite
Travel Required (nature and frequency):
Approximately 15% travel, including overnight required, including other BMS sites, or business partners/service providers; attend professional meetings and seminars.
