We have a great opportunity for an External Operations Manager to join the Wembley Stadium team on a fixed-term basis.

As our operating environment continues to change across the Wembley Park Estate and the complexity of our operations and stakeholder relationship and dependence increase, we are seeking an External Operations Manager to support the Senior External Operations Manager in the implementation and delivery of stadium External Operations. Ensuring we provide safe, secure and efficient access for all at Wembley Stadium whilst minimising any disruption to local residents and businesses.

What will you be doing?

  • Lead external operational planning and delivery for allocated events.
  • Manage both external ops and transport contractors and supervise their operational delivery.
  • Produce and update applicable event documentation including Event briefing sheets, Fanzone EMPs, licensing documentation and RAMS.
  • Review event-day TM plans and coordinate contractor & transport stakeholders.
  • Manage event day Fanzone pre-event planning and event day operation.
  • Liaise with Zone Ex stakeholders (Wembley Park, LBB, Met Police, BTP, TfL, Wembley Arena) regularly ensuring coordination across event day operations.
  • Coordinate with other Stadium ops departments to ensure seamless event day operations
  • Oversee stadium external signage, wayfinding and digital assets for event day.
  • Attend both internal and external event planning meetings as required.
  • Oversee the Zone Ex Coordination Room is operational & effective for event day delivery
  • Coordinate and maintain Ext Ops contractor H&S documentation
  • Manage both WNSL's event day and non-event day parking requirements, by ensuring the parking manifests are up to date, parking enquiries are dealt with promptly and align with WNSL's parking policies.
  • Support the day-to-day management of internal and external stakeholders including working with Network Rail, Train Operating Companies, Highways Agencies, blue light services, Local Authorities and the Wembley Park Estate
  • Executes additional tasks as required in order to meet FA Group's changing priorities.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of health, safety and well-being can be maintained.
  • As part of The FA's commitment to ensuring a safe environment for everyone in football, every employee will be required to complete a DBS check. The level of the check required will be based on the activity of the specific job role and in line with legislation and government guidance.

What are we looking for?

Essential for the role:

  • Strong experience in event operations is required; ideally in a major event or large stadium environment.
  • Experience in leading contractors to deliver to tight and immovable deadlines.
  • Project management skills and experience in creating operational solutions.
  • Experience working in multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Experience in budget control and delivering to service specifications.
  • Proven communication skills and ability to deliver quality written reports.
  • Accustomed to working with a high level of corporate and public scrutiny.
  • Open and with high integrity and a positive can-do attitude.
  • Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to coordinate numerous and varied suppliers and contractors.
  • Knowledgeable about major event-related External Operations.

Our Organisation

The Football Association [The FA] is the not-for-profit governing body of football in England. We currently work within a hybrid working model whereby the expectation is to work from your contractual location for part of the week, and as and when required by the team. The remaining days can be worked remotely. We will continue to monitor this model and it may be adjusted in future if deemed necessary.

Your contract with The FA will specify a fixed location of either Wembley Stadium, St. George's Park or our Processing Centre, unless the role is advertised as a homebased contract. The contractual location of this role can be found at the top of this advert on our FA vacancy page.
