External Sales Engineer
Our client, a leading solutions provider in the energy industry specialising in design, manufacturing, and technical services, is currently seeking an External Sales Engineer. This presents an excellent opportunity for a professional in External Sales, with a preference for a background in the Oil and Gas (O&G) industry and Offshore Drilling equipment (though not essential). The role aims to leverage the candidate’s expertise to support the company’s growth by expanding its customer base. The position requires regular visits to sustain and cultivate existing client relationships and explore new opportunities with clients in the UK.
The position is based in Aberdeen, with bi-weekly travel to the West Yorkshire office and occasional international travel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and cultivate new prospects, managing both domestic and international customer accounts, including contract negotiation.
- Address customer enquiries and needs directly related to managed accounts.
- Prepare proposals and quotations.
- Build strong relationships to become a valued technical sales resource for customers.
- Oversee the preparation of customer-focused technical and commercial quotations, feasibility reports, and other documentation.
- Explore new business areas through active market research for the desired product line.
- Familiarity with the onshore/offshore oil and gas industry, particularly in Europe, the Middle East, and South America.
- In-depth understanding of sales processes in high-value engineering projects.
- Strong project management and negotiation skills.
- Proven track record in developing and securing sales.
Qualifications:
- HNC or higher in Mechanical Engineering or extensive experience in the oil and gas industry.
- Detailed engineering knowledge and experience with mechanical handling equipment.
Salary £40,000 base salary + commission, with a £5,000 car allowance following probationary period.
Hours Monday – Friday 37.5 per week
Holidays: 20 days increasing by one day each year on the anniversary of joining (maximum of 25 days) + 8 days Statutory
