An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Research & Innovation (R&I) Directorate, leading the R&I Support Team based within the Faculty of Business & Law on an 18-month fixed term contract. This opportunity is available to both internal and external candidates.

About the Role:
You will provide leadership and operational management at Faculty level to ensure the development and delivery of an integrated and effective service to support academic departments, enabling them to undertake high-quality R&I activities, attract income and create excellent outputs.
You will proactively manage the Faculty R&I Support Team and maintain a high standard of service delivery to academic colleagues and other service users. Additionally, you will work with fellow Faculty R&I Managers to develop an agile support service to meet the changing needs and priorities of the University.
This role involves oversight of the management of Faculty-based R&I activities to ensure compliance with internal and external policies designed to improve the quality of the research environment on matters such as project delivery and research ethics & governance.
About You:
This is a key role at Faculty level, providing the successful applicant with the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the implementation of the University's ambitious Research Strategy.
You should have:
- Significant knowledge and understanding of the UK and international R&I funding landscape, and R&I governance and compliance requirements.
- Significant experience of managing and developing a team, preferably in a Higher Education environment.
- A proven track record of successful change management and the ability to implement and communicate new policies and procedures to a range of audiences.
- The ability to identify gaps in service and standards and devise creative solutions.

The R&I Directorate supports all aspects across the lifecycle of the University's high-quality research portfolio, with specialist staff supporting bid development, partnerships, ethics & governance, impact & engagement, contracts and project delivery. The Faculty R&I Support Teams work with specialist colleagues to mobilise this support within Faculties.
