One of the UK’s most inspiring and best-known faith-based organisations, The Salvation Army, is looking for a target-driven Service Manager with in-depth knowledge of services for vulnerable clients in a competitive climate to join our Anti-Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery Operation Unit in the Peterborough area.
Our Anti-Trafficking and Modern Slavery team provides specialist support to protect and care for all adult survivors of Modern Slavery in England and Wales through a government contract which was first awarded in 2011. A new and extended contract came into force in January 2021 through which survivors of Modern Slavery are now entitled to support at all stages of their recovery. Since 2011 The Salvation Army and its partners have supported a total of 21,824 recovering survivors of Modern Slavery. Last year a total of 3,533 potential victims entered the service, a 5% increase on the previous year.
Key Responsibilities:
The role of Service Manager is fundamental to our desire to help vulnerable clients achieve positive outcomes. It involves providing local strategic vision and direction, championing excellence in terms of high-quality, cost-effective service delivery and ensuring successful outcomes are achieved for every client. Day-to-day, you will have overall responsibility for the programmes within your service, ensuring they meet compliance, KPIs and contractual obligations, and that the service is run in line with our Mission and Values. We will also rely on you to provide in-depth information, advice and guidance on Human Trafficking casework management for staff and service users alike. In short, you won’t be short of challenges to rise to.
To succeed, you will need:
- NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in a related field or a willingness to work towards this, or at least 5 years’ experience of working in the field of Anti-Trafficking and Modern Slavery.
- Significant experience of working with vulnerable clients in a supportive setting, a business minded, strategic thinking approach and a proven ability to lead and implement change.
- A good understanding of the legislation relating to Anti-Trafficking and Modern Slavery, Immigration, homelessness, housing, employment, health and safety and safeguarding.
- Knowledge of Quality Management systems including ISO9001 and IQI or experience managing properties delivering services to vulnerable people
- An understanding of funding streams for those who have/don’t have recourse to public funds (Housing Benefits and Supporting People) and meeting contractual requirements.
- Excellent communications skills and proficiency using a range of IT packages, including Microsoft.
