Job description

Oregon Timber Frame (OTFE), one of the UK’s largest Timber Frame manufacturers are a division of Barratt Developments PLC, Britain’s largest housebuilder, following an acquisition in 2019.

We specialise in the design, manufacture, supply, and erection of structural timbers to all divisions across the Barratt Group.

This is a newly created role for the purpose of assisting the Finance Manager (based in Scotland) with the day to day management of all finance aspects of the operation at our new, state of the art manufacturing facility. The majority of the workload will entail processing and reconciling transactions to ensure that monthly results are accurate and reliable.
This role will be the only finance team representative in this location so will be self sufficient and comfortable working remotely from Scottish team. They will be confident in their abilities to explain finance issues to non finance staff.
To fill this role we are therefore looking for a team player with a background in finance (either through a previous job or through study) who is methodical, has an eye for detail and is keen to learn.

You will be expected to:
 
  • Take ownership of the purchase ledger from logging through to supplier reconciliation
  • Liaison with Selkirk finance team for both trade and subcontractor payments
  • Ownership of English based subcontractor claims, ensuring accuracy and appropriate Cognito sign offs
  • Liaison with contract managers regarding subcontractor claims and payments
  • Accurate allocation of cash receipts to the sales ledger
  • Booking and analysis of monthly credit card spend
  • Ensuring accurate coding of all entries on Sage
  • Completion of monthly ONS and CIS returns
  • Assisting, as required, during the annual audit process and stocktake process
  • Working with the commercial team to ensure the reliability of monthly stock counts and valuations
  • Meeting all key deadlines for reporting
  • Logging and reporting of Corporate Sustainability data
  • Awareness of process improvement opportunities

Request

To be successful in the role, we are looking for:
 
  •  Accounting knowledge-part qualified AAT or equivalent or qualified by experience
  • Numerate-ideally GCSE Maths Grade 7 or above
  • Ability to work flexibly to meet tight deadlines
  • IT skills-particularly Excel and accounting software packages, ideally Sage.
