Job description

Our Threat Representation leadership team holds responsibility for the establishment and integration of this newly established business unit, which will see QinetiQ further capitalise and develop our expertise and reputation as a global leader in Threat Representation.

 

This is a unique opportunity to lead the creation of a capability which brings together four businesses from Australia, Germany, the United Kingdom and Canada into an integrated global Threat Representation business unit. Threat Representation is one of the Australia Sector’s four strategic offerings realised through four growth vectors aligned to customer needs.

 

Over the past ten years QinetiQ has been progressively investing in and establishing a global team of companies that deliver Threat Representation capabilities, including un-crewed aerial and maritime drones, and piloted adversarial air and aerial training support.

 

Under the Threat Representation Business Unit we are bringing together this strategic capability to deliver an integrated service offering to our global customer base. We will invest in future technology and innovation to meet increasing global demand for high-fidelity Threat Representation

 

Reporting to the Australia Sector Chief Financial Officer, the Financial Director, Threat Representation will lead financial reporting and performance management within the BU, ensuring compliance with both Australian Sector and Group Finance strategy, policy and procedures, to enable business performance. 

 

The role will effectively have a dual reporting line to the Managing Director, Threat Representation to ensure appropriate stewardship and control of financial aspects of the BU.

 

 

In terms of more specific accountabilities, the Financial Director will:
•    Provide stewardship and control of the financial affairs of the Threat Representation BU in accordance with both Sector and Group Finance strategy, policy and procedures 
•    Support the Australian Sector Chief Financial Officer to evolve, improve and embed both Sector and Group Finance strategy, policy and procedures 
•    Be accountable for BU financial performance management and reporting (including actuals, forecast, budget and five (5) year planning).
•    Identify and support the business with commercial opportunities to enable growth ambitions, leveraging internal and external insight to balance risk and reward in a competitive market
•    Partner with the Country Managing Directors in strengthening QinetiQ’s impact on health, safety and the environment

 

 

The ideal internal candidate for this senior, specialist role will have:
•    Demonstrable experience in successfully delivering in a global or multi-national company and/ or the ability and mindset to integrate and collaborate across multiple geographical locations, time zones and cultures 
•    Exemplary leadership abilities and a proven track record as a role model for QinetiQ’s values, behaviours and ethical standards and in fostering a culture where employees can thrive 
•    ACA/ACCA qualifications or equivalent with significant, demonstrable post qualification experience in a senior finance role within a commercial environment
•    Detailed understanding of IFRS and a working understanding of relevant country accounting standards / environment, tax and accounting law (Australia, Canada, Germany and United Kingdom at a minimum)
•    Experience of working in complex matrix organisations
•    Proven ability to drive efficiency, financial control and process reviews across an organisation and in delivering fit for purpose reports, information, analysis and advice to senior executives
•    Strong relationship building skills with the ability to make connections and partner with global stakeholders, role modelling collaboration in the daily delivery of the business unit 
•    Current security clearance at the required level or the eligibility to obtain (United Kingdom Security Check (SC))
