Rowner Infant School are on a continuous and exciting journey of improvement under the leadership of our head teacher. We are a small, but perfectly formed infant school with relationships at the heart of our practice. We are looking for a finance Officer to provide a professional, effective and efficient financial and administrative service, supporting the Headteacher, governors and school as a whole.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the operation of our happy and thriving school, and work as part of our hardworking, dedicated team.
Finance Management
- Support the Headteacher in managing the schools’ budget, including budget setting, forecasting and monitoring
- Have experience in finance and administration preferably within a school setting
- Undertake the school’s procurement and ensure best value for money
- Process invoices, orders and balance credit card and post items onto budgeting system
- Ensure that spending has been allocated to the correct budget code and reviews for the HT
- Have knowledge or working experience of using school financial systems, IBC & the Access budgeting tool
HR
- Have working knowledge of HR and personnel systems/procedures
- Co-ordinate the recruitment of staff and adhere to safer recruitment guidance
- Maintain staff records, absence, change in pay, leavers and contracts
- Oversee governor matters and maintain the single central register (SCR)
Admin
- Take on the role of Data Protection Officer
- Handle sensitive and/or confidential data in adherence with relevant data protection regulations
- Have strong interpersonal and communication skills to support governors, staff, pupils, parents and external organisations

- Has excellent organisational, planning and time management skills along with the ability to multi-task
- Is able to work independently with minimum supervision as well as working as a pro-active team member
- Is flexible and will adapt to the changing needs of the school
- Has excellent numeracy skills and understands and analyses data to identify options and make recommendations
- Has excellent IT skills and willing to develop new skills
- Prioritises safeguarding and maintains confidentiality
- Is reliable, trustworthy and conscientious
