Hays Accountancy & Finance are partnering with a leading and innovative provider of education and care services to recruit a dynamic and driven Financial Accountant. Remote working with a few ad-hoc offices days in Gloucester, Gloucestershire. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced private equity backed group, reporting directly to the Financial Controller. The position will support all financial and statutory accounting processes, analysing financial information and implementing stronger controls and processes. Offering career development and future succession planning, open to both finance professionals from practice and industry. Ideally suited to a newly qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA Accountant but would consider a part-qualified/finalist studier.
Your new role
Your key duties will involve supporting the financial controller by implementing stronger financial controls and processes, preparing statutory accounts, reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, along with examining/analysing financial information. You will liaise with tax advisors and external auditors, be responsible for the fixed assets, prepare VAT returns, and be involved in ad-hoc duties/projects to support senior financial management. The role will also involve system accounting processes, including maintaining and improving the newly implemented finance system. The duties will grow as you develop in the organisation, with opportunity for future succession planning.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this hands-on Financial Accountant opportunity, you will have some experience in a similar role, strong technical accounting skills, with key MS Excel skills. You will be qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA or working towards full completion of your finance qualification. You will have proven experience in financial and statutory accounting, a strong degree of accuracy, and key communication skills to partner both internal and externally at all levels. You will be used to working within a fast-paced group, managing workloads, and meeting pressured deadlines. You will be a good team player with a problem-solving mind-set, willing to learn, and comfortable with financial systems. Experience within the Education or Care sectors and knowledge of Unit 4/Agresso would be advantageous but not essential.
