Hays are delighted to be working on an exclusive basis with a leading SME group of companies in service and installation based near to Birmingham Airport. The company have superb modern offices with parking and also have a flexible working policy with circa 2 days per week working from home.
Your new role
This is a newly created position due to some significant contract wins and reports into both the divisional Financial Controller and also the Operations Director and works closely alongside the sales and contracts team. We are looking for an experienced Finance Analyst who has a strong commercial grasp and excellent excel and is looking for a role which is not focussed on the month-end but is much more business facing and commercial
Key duties below:

• Work with and provide support to the Account management team to prepare sales and margin numbers in a timely fashion at month end. To ensure correct accounting treatment of taking revenue to the P&L, ensure the appropriate costs are matched with revenue and the associated balance sheet is accurate and compete (WIP, reserves).
• Assist the management team with detailed analysis of revenue and costs to provide relevant management information to enable informed operational and strategic decisions.
• Monthly reviews with Account management to produce sales and margin numbers by customer and by project.
• Analyse sales and margin within the nominal ledger to ensure it reconciles.
• Work with the Account managers to ensure the next 2 months sales & margin forecast and full year forecast are up-to-date to given deadlines.
• Prepare and justify /reconcile associated balance sheet codes (Sales reserves, purchase reserves, WIP, Progress invoices). Liaise with Account management to monitor risk and reduce aged balances.
• Review of Purchase reserve includes monitoring Purchase orders / committed costs and.
• Reporting the orders received by the company by customer / revenue stream. Reconciling orders with revenue recognised the month end order book. Work with account management to produce the next 2-month order forecast and the full year report.
• What you\'ll need to succeed

We are looking for a Finance Analyst with excellent excel and data manipulation skills who can work across the business and engage with non-finance heads. This is a busy role so someone who has excellent time management and the ability to prioritise a work load. This is not a classic Management Accountant role but supports the business operationally so it would suit someone looking to move into more of an operational finance role. The role would consider someone who is developing and has started studying but consideration would also be given to a Qualified or Qualified by Experienced candidate.
