Here at Serco, we are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to support with ensuring rigour, efficiency, and harmony in our processes to underpin our financial control environment.
In this key role you will be accountable for the integrity of the financial information within the Transport & Community Services business unit (BU) through the maintenance of an effective control environment. This will encompass ensuring that the financial data and metrics for the BU are correct and adhere to Serco policies and that the processes that support the production and reporting of those figures are robust, efficient, and applied consistently across the BU. This BU consists of Transport, Leisure, Environmental Services and Micro-Mobility.
As part of this you'll:
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and process excellence to improve the quality and efficiency of the processes that sit within the BU control environment
- Reduce variation and embed change to enable the generation of accurate data in our financial systems
- Maintain and periodically review the Delegated Authority Matrix
- Ensure the smooth running of the External audit process
- Drive the strategic plan and budget process within the BU to meet all required deadlines including presentation packs
- Provide Business Partner support to BU overhead budget holders
- Build strong working relationships across the business and particularly with Serco's BPO supplier, the Global process owners, the BU and UK & Europe Divisional finance team
- You will need to be a Qualified accountant with experience of working in a large and complex environment
- Experience of delivering change across a multi stakeholder matrix environment
- Experience of coordinating external audit cycles for a large business
- Ability to influence when recommending a course of action and build consensus
- Effective stakeholder management skills
- Good understanding of finance systems and standardised processes
- An understanding of an Outsourcing environment is highly desirable
