Financial Controller (ACCA ACA or CIMA)

Salary: circa £65,000+ pro-rata depending on experience

Location: Harrogate – office based

Part time: 2 days /16 hrs per week

Overview:

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially and strategically minded ‘hands on’ Financial Controller with a strong business acumen to work as part of the leadership team and to help drive the growth of this SME.

Up & Running is an award-winning, owner managed, national retailer in the specialist running sector, with 29 ‘bricks and mortar’ stores and online web sales.

The candidate will oversee all financial activities of Up & Running, ensuring accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis. This role involves, maintaining robust financial controls, and providing strategic financial insights to support the growth and profitability of the business.

Key Responsibilities but not limited to:-

• Financial management of the business and production of high quality and insightful weekly/monthly and annual reporting.
• Conduct detailed financial projections & analysis to support business decisions.
• Produce cashflows and budgets and closely monitor performance.
• Assist and monitor all finance KPI’s on an ongoing basis and ensure liquidity.
• Review controls, systems and processes to ensure they are robust and fit for purpose and will support the growth of the business.
• Produce analysis identifying opportunities and risks with recommendations on relevant actions to remedy any risk areas and exploit opportunities.
• Partner with Directors and senior management to review key drivers of business performance and provide recommendations on the growth strategy.

• Co-ordinating the annual audit process for the Company
• Identifying systems and process enhancements for discussion with Directors and senior management.

To be successful in this role the candidate will have the following experience:

• CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualified finance professional.
• 5 years+ previous experience in accounting and finance role.
• Strong commercial mindset and approach with excellent technical skills.
• Strategic thinker with a proven track record of operating at a strategic level.
• Focus on controls and procedures with a high attention to detail.
• Proficient in financial software systems, (Sage Line 50, MS Office – Excel to advanced standard) and ability to learn new systems quickly and identify areas for improvement.
