Job Title: Financial Planning & Analysis Accountant  

Salary: £46,000 - £55,000 (Depending on experience) 

Location : Peterborough - 3 days a week in the office

  • Contributory pension scheme - Caterpillar will double the employee's contribution Up to 10% 

  • Contributory share scheme - Caterpillar will match 50% of the employee's contribution.

About IPSD

Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L Cat® and Perkins engines that power over 5000 applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Job Summary   

As a FP&A Accountant you will have the opportunity to build strong working relationships with financial and non-financial stakeholders in order to drive targeted, data driven improvements into the business.  You will gain experience working across a multi-site global environment and have opportunities for career and personal development.  Excellent communication skills are required as well as the ability to adapt your presentation style to suit the needs of the audience. 

What You Will Do:   

  • Manages Financial Planning, budgeting, and forecasting. 

  • Creates variance analysis reports and financial models. 

  • Compile slide decks associated with monthly results and forecasting cycles. 

  • Drive continuous improvement. 

  • Support short-, medium- and long-term corporate initiatives around data analysis and standardization 

What You Have:    

Demonstrated working knowledge of:  

  • Education/Experience: Educated to a degree level or qualified by experience. Professional Certification (CIMA, ACCA or equivalent) 

  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision - Accurately gauges the impact and cost of errors, omissions, and oversights. 

  • Accounting: Knowledge of accounting methods, processes, and tools; ability to maintain and prepare financial statements and reports using accounting methods and processes- Participates in accounting practices of classifying and recording financial data. 

  • Financial Analysis: Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material - Interprets major types of financial statements issued by the organisation. 

  • Financial Reporting: Knowledge of processes, methods, and tools of financial reporting; ability to create and maintain accurate and thorough financial reports - Follows organizational practices and guidelines for product profitability reporting. 

Additional highly desired skills include:  

  • Experience of data analytics and visualisation tools such as MS PowerBI, MS PowerApps, or Alteryx 

  • Experience of accounting within a manufacturing environment and/or global matrix organisations.
