ROH National Schools Programme Freelance Producer for Create Day in Tendering, Essex
Background
The Royal Opera House`s mission is to enrich the cultural life of the nation. Through an extensive learning programme, based at our Covent Garden and Thurrock homes and across England, we aim to inspire creativity and give people of all ages the chance to discover, question and respond to the power of our artforms.
The Royal Opera House`s National Schools Programme empowers teachers to inspire creativity in children and young people through music, dance and design, reflecting the world-class ballet and opera artistry of the Royal Opera House.
As part of its mission to inspire creativity and work with schools across the country ROH Learning and Participation has funding from Arts Council England to work in Levelling up for Culture areas in the East Region. As such we are bringing a newly developed Create Day programme to Luton and Tendring. As part of Create Day, Key Stage 2 classes are invited to respond to a creative brief inspired by the theme of `hope` and the UN Rights of the Child. In Luton and Tendring we want to respond to local need and test delivering Create Day in a bespoke way.
Brief
The Royal Opera House is looking for a freelance project manager to manage a partnership project between the Royal Opera House and Tendring Creative Schools Network and produce a local celebration event in July 2024. The work will be undertaken from February - July 2024.
Up to 12 days over 6 months
£250 per day
Overall aims:
To bring together primary schools across Tendring in a live mass participation performance to create a community of creative Key Stage 2 pupils across the district.To work with school leads, ROH staff and our freelance education specialist to design an event that supports the schools to embed creativity into their schools.To secure a venue and lead on all logistical aspects of the delivery of this event.Deepen pupils` knowledge of the UN Rights of the Child.

Please submit an expression of interest, no more than 2 sides of A4, detailing your approach, areas of expertise, and what you/your organisation can offer to successfully meet the brief. Please include a budget and timeline. For freelance individuals, a CV must also be submitted.
Applicants who are invited to interview will have demonstrated:
Demonstrable expertise and experience of project managing and producing events for cultural, education, youth and/or community sectors.An understanding of the ROH National Schools Programme and Create DayAbility to devise a bespoke event /programme that responds to local needs.A budget breakdown including how you will approach the brief and number of days/rates. Initial meetings with the team and a mid-point review discussion need to be factored into your proposal.
