Front of House Manager - Reading, Berkshire
We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Front of House Manager to join our team. This pivotal role is perfect for someone who thrives in a customer-focused environment and is passionate about health and fitness. As the first point of contact for our members, the Front of House Manager will ensure the smooth running of the reception area, deliver exceptional customer service, and support the daily operations of our facility.
This role has full-time equivalent hours, across the working week. Some weekend and early morning and evening work will be required. A competitive salary is offered, based on experience.
The Barns at Wellington
The Barns at Wellington is nestled in the grounds of the Duke of Wellington Estate in Hampshire, England. The Barns at Wellington, a members only facility, offers the perfect blend of a premium environment, motivational coaches and an active community. We have one membership option giving all access to our facility. Our facilities are set within beautifully converted barns, with studio rooms holding fitness and wellbeing classes, alongside a state-of-the-art gym, cryotherapy chamber, infrared sauna and changing rooms. We also have indoor and outdoor padel courts. We pride ourselves on our welcoming atmosphere, exceptional customer service and our superb fitness facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and assist members and visitors with a friendly and professional manner
- Oversee the daily operations of the front desk and small member’s lounge, ensuring a high standard of service at all times
- Manage membership enquiries, sign-ups, and renewals
- Coordinate the booking and scheduling of gym sessions, padel courts, and classes
- Handle customer feedback and resolve issues promptly and efficiently
- Ensure the reception area is clean, tidy, and welcoming
- Supervise and train front desk staff, creating a positive and motivated team environment
- Collaborate with fitness instructors and other staff to ensure seamless communication and service delivery
- Serve food and beverages as and when required in our brand new Members Lounge
- Monitor inventory and order supplies for The Barns as and when required
Qualifications and Skills
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role, ideally within a fitness or leisure environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle challenging situations with grace
- Proficiency in using computer systems and booking software
- Familiarity with food and beverage offerings is beneficial
- A passion for health, fitness, and wellbeing is a plus
- A desire to be real team player, to enjoy what you do and to help deliver exceptional customer service
The Estate
The 1st Duke of Wellington returned to Britain and was treated as a hero after his final victory at the Battle of Waterloo. He was formally honoured and presented the Estate in Hampshire, England in 1815. The centre of the Estate today is Stratfield Saye House, where the 1st Duke lived from 1817. To this day, it is still the private home of the 9th Duke of Wellington. Now, over 200 years later, there is a portfolio of different businesses and activities on the Estate including; Wellington Country Park, Wellington Farm Shop, Wellington Riding, The Barns at Wellington and Wellesley Prep School.
