Job description
About Us:
Help us build on a reputation for delivering high-quality children's services
In Kensington and Chelsea and our neighbouring borough of Westminster, we look after a diverse population, which includes people living in some of the nation's most affluent and most deprived wards. We have high aspirations for all our children and young people to reach their full potential and realise their ambitions, particularly those who are vulnerable. We place the voice of our children and young people at the heart of all we do, ensuring that they feel listened to and are empowered to shape the services that affect them.
The Role:
Working across both boroughs, you will be part of a leadership team that keeps the 'engine' of Children's Services running by providing policy and strategy expertise, analysis and advice. You will lead on performance and risk and oversee preparation for all external inspections at the same time as ensuring Lead Members are well supported. The role requires high levels of creativity and flexibility matched with strong people skills to continue to develop teams of specialists. You will report to the Director of Operations Programmes and work closely with all the Senior Leadership Team while overseeing a team of around 20 staff. Managing change and finding solutions to a wide array of issues and challenges will be key.
About You:
This is a people focused role where the ability to build rapport and understand all aspects of our children's services is vital. You're likely to combine strong insights into children's social care policy with a deeper understanding of one or more areas of children's services. Your ability to deliver multiple pieces of work under pressure will be matched by your confidence to engage with a wide range of people at different levels. You must therefore be an excellent communicator, good at networking and building connections. As a senior leader you will be an advocate for equity, diversity, and inclusion with a track record of putting this into practice. Ready to work under pressure, you'll be able to point to a strong track-record in performance improvement.
In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays. This is a lively, close-knit team, which meets and socialises across the two boroughs.
Please apply online explaining how you meet the requirements set out in the person specification and job description. CV's will not be considered for this role.
