Head Of Communications

Big Society Capital is seeking a Head of Communications to lead the Communications team. This senior role offers an outstanding opportunity to help shape the future of the social impact investment market and lead the positioning and communications strategy for the UK’s leading social impact investor. This will provide a platform for Big Society Capital to create energy around the problems we are seeking to tackle, inform and inspire potential investors and partners (from the financial, public, and social sectors) to work with us, and to amplify the learnings from our work to influencing the wider system for lasting change.

Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Engagement, the Head of Communications will be responsible for overseeing our digital presence and engagement with the media, and national and local Government and policy makers. They will also play a key role in shaping our new five-year strategy set to launch in 2025.

The successful candidate will be an ambitious communications leader with exposure to or an interest in the social finance sector, and experience in setting and implementing communications strategies that convey complex concepts clearly to a range of audiences. Collaborative and inclusive, they will also bring outstanding management and influencing skills.

The salary for this role is circa £90,000 per annum. Big Society Capital offers hybrid and flexible working to all its employees.

Essential experience

• Senior team leadership experience

• Strong experience of dealing with and influencing media for key audiences particularly financial
• Experience of leading strategic coordinated communications
• Track record of developing and delivering successful internal and external communications strategies

Desirable experience

• Financial sector, impact investment and/or social sector experience, knowledge and contacts
• Working in complex organisations with multiple stakeholder communities
