The Guardian (GNM) have launched a new and exciting partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) and are looking for a talented individual to bring true stories to life on screen. This is a new role with scope to make it your own and be a key contributor in starting this unique project. This role will work with a number of important stakeholders, along with key creative and development responsibilities.
We are now looking for a Head of Content Development for a 3 year fixed term contract to implement and manage the purpose of the GNM and SPE TV & film partnership. Core to the role will be the ability to work closely with Editorial teams to identify diverse and authentic stories inspired by GNM’s global journalism for production by SPE, delivering creative and commercial returns for the partnership.

About the Role
- In consultation with GNM and SPE executives, create and deploy a comprehensive proactive strategy for identifying new, developing and archived GNM intellectual property.
- Prepare pitches for the GNM and SPE steering group, including commissioning of development resources and pitch materials; respond to requests for further materials as required; manage the pitch windows and track pitched projects
- Act as an ambassador internally and externally for the partnership by advocating for the partnership purpose with GNM and SPE teams and the wider Film & TV industry
About You
- Extensive experience in a creative role in film and television and minimum of 5 years at a production company
- Studio or broadcaster developing original concepts as well as concepts pitched by outside writers/producers/ broadcasters, into quality, viable stories and scripts for the screen.
- An established credibility and base of existing relationships, as well as the creative community (writers, directors, producers, agents).
- Experience in all aspects of scripted content including concept creation, strategy development, liaising with Business Affairs, commercial partnership exposure and budget knowledge.
