Job Description
Job Title: Head of Controls Office (Insurance, Pensions & Investments)
Salary: £111,469 - £131,140
Location: Edinburgh, Bristol or Leeds
Hours: Full-time
Working Pattern: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office locations.
About this opportunity:
Insurance, Pensions & Investments (IP&I) is beginning the journey of redefining the Insurance and Pensions market through creating new digital and market leading propositions. Our business needs to change to ensure we remain relevant for our customers today and tomorrow in an increasingly competitive, volatile and digitally led environment.
Do you want to play a meaningful role within this change and transformation?
Do you want to help build a function that will provide an outstanding Controls' service to accelerate transformation safely?
Does spending your time focussed on simplifying, optimisation and automating controls, through using new technology sound exciting?
If so, then this role is a great opportunity to be at the heart of supporting IP&I’s transformation; where you’ll have the opportunity to lead a brand-new team with a changing purpose and role. You’ll have a chance to shape new ways of working; have engagement with leaders across IP&I; and truly changing the way we approach Controls management in LBG! You'll have the opportunity to drive a control focussed culture across the end-to-end IP&I business, leading through collaborative and experimentation to move at pace!
What you’ll be doing:
  • Takes responsibility for the design and implementation of the control environment to enable the Group to meet its regulatory and operational risk objectives within stated risk appetite and provide consistent and fair outcomes for customers.
  • Manages relationships with risk and control owners and acts as their primary control specialist business partner, utilising their team to help deliver against aligned customer, business and strategic outcomes.
  • Develops effective ongoing data-led control testing and monitoring to meet the needs or risk and control owners, risk specialist teams, Audit and external regulators.
  • Leads the first line control specialist centre of excellence that supports safe growth and enables high quality customer service.
  • Supports the development and implementation of the control strategy to ensure there is a clear understanding of both the design and operating effectiveness of the control environment across e2e business processes.
  • Takes ownership for creating and delivering an approach to manage cost of control to enable leadership to prioritise strategic control optimisation and automation investment.
  • Develops and implements an approach to map key risks and controls across e2e business processes and customer lifecycle outcomes. Drives active use of these maps to identify e2e control gaps and improvements to enable prioritisation of optimisation opportunities.
  • Works collaboratively with Platform teams to embed technical control capability including implementation and embedding of control by design.
  • Own actions from Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) and develop mitigation plans to manage through to resolution. Share findings with relevant colleagues.
Why Lloyds Banking Group?
Join us and, as well as making a difference to customers, you’ll enjoy an exciting career where you’re free to be yourself. Great colleagues, redefining workspaces, hybrid working and a wide variety of career opportunities – you’ll find them all here.

  • Leadership: proven track record of building, leading and inspiring an engaged, diverse and capable team.
