You will be working for a large council based in the West Midlands who have a really strong vision and who would like to make their communities the very best they can be. This vision is always supported by a really strong, well-governed finance team who are able to help the organisation to realise their vision for the future.
Your new role
You will be Head of Finance Business Partnering for the Place and Economy directorates, which encompasses Housing - GF & HRA, Regeneration, Corporate Services, Support services and Environment. You will be overseeing a team of Finance Business partners and assistant FBP's of around 13 people in total.
You will be required to provide support and challenge in the effective management and control of the annual revenue budget, the Council's Medium Term Financial Strategy, the capital programme and the overall control environment with focus on strong financial governance.
You will lead, manage and develop the team to successfully deliver a strong Business Partnering service, including insightful reporting, advice and challenge to promote strong financial management.
Provide excellent advice and guidance on accounting, budgeting and financial management to members, service directors and other managers.
Contribute to the overall strategic and operational management of the Finance Division, leading and motivating and developing the team to make a strong effective Business Partnering service delivered.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be a qualified accountant.
Strong experience in a large local authority where you have been responsible for a team of Finance Business partners
Strategic experience in leading a number of directorate areas
Knowledge of the place / economy directorate area in at least one of the key areas
Effective people manager
Able to introduce new processes and procedures
