Who would you be working for?

Women's Aid is the national charity working to end domestic abuse against women and children. Over the past 46 years, Women's Aid has been at the forefront of shaping and coordinating responses to domestic abuse through practice, research and policy. Empowering survivors by keeping their voices at the heart of our work, working with and for women and children by listening to them and responding to their needs.

Women's Aid support services, which include a Live Chat Helpline, the Survivors' Forum, the No Woman Turned Away Project, the Survivor's Handbook, Love Respect (dedicated website for young people in their first relationships), the national Domestic Abuse Directory and their advocacy projects, help thousands of women and children every year.

What is the role?

At a pivotal time in the charity's history; following the pandemic and in the lead up to the general election and the charity's 50th birthday, Women's Aid is seeking a Head of Finance that will be responsible for ensuring effective management of Finances, premises, governance and planning. Main responsibilities include:

• Financial management, budgeting and forecasting; leading on development of annual budget and assisting with the development of long term financial strategy
• Audit, Board and statutory reporting; leading on year-end preparation in line with charity SORP
• Finance business partnering; acting as the key Finance point of contact for Executive and Senior Leadership teams
• Financial controls, risk and compliance; maintaining financial management policies and procedures
• Effective line management of the Finance team; continuing to drive a high performance team
• Other ad-hoc responsibilities, including management of supplier contracts

This role is offering a salary of up to £63,000 and is remote with occasional travel to Bristol and London required.

What do you need to succeed?

• A full accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or equivalent)
• Extensive experience producing statutory accounts in line with charity SORP, as well as leading on the production of annual budgets and forecasts
• Experience working within a charity finance function with line management experience
• Confident user of Excel and other accounting systems
• Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders at differing seniority
