The Company:
We are recruiting for a SME Service business operating in the B-B market. Based in Derby they operate throughout the UK with a large portfolio of corporate organisations that they service.
The Opportunity:
We are recruiting for a formally Qualified candidate to join this growing business and lead the UK financial operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day running of a small Finance team whilst working closely with the MD and Senior Management Team. This is a Number 1 role and will suit a Financial Controller looking for progression and a broader role.
Longer term there will be the opportunity to progress within the business to a UK Finance Director position. This is a very fast-moving business and will require a highly motivated individual able to develop an effective financial control framework whilst providing commercial decision support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Overseeing the day-to-day management of the company’s financial operations
- Review existing processes to support the business growth
- Prepare financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cashflow statements and recommend actions based on results
- Build and develop the finance team
- Produce all financial information and reporting in a timely manner, meeting all statutory and regulatory requirements
- Review and monitor the Company’s cashflow and financial position, making recommendations for improvement and collaborating with the Senior Management Team on strategic business decisions
- Full involvement in the strategic decision-making process of the business
- Oversee the Annual Budgeting process working closely with the Senior Management Team
Skills and Experience Required:
- Demonstrable experience in financial and management accounting in a commercial background in both a SME and Corporate environment ideally
- Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA or related accounting qualification
- Experience of upscaling a business going through growth, change and putting in place a robust accounting control framework
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail
- Strong Stakeholder Management skills with the ability to communicate effectively and work closely with the Senior Management Team and across all areas of the business
- A proactive and confident individual with the ability to challenge effectively
- Strong Management skills - demonstrable experience in managing and developing people
- Hands-on ability to deal with a broad range of projects and challenges
