Our client is a reputable and forward thinking logistics and distribution company based in Coventry. Due to expansion, they are now recruiting a Head of Network Operations.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a senior management position with significant influence towards our operational performance, working closely with the operations director and the operations team alongside other department heads, to manage and strategically lead the Depot Team and the Quality Team, ensuring that the supply of pallets meets our customers' requirements by overseeing service levels across our network of third party service providers (depots and repair centres), and outsourced manufacturers/suppliers in accordance with documented quality standards. The role also works to assimilate operational and financial data to measure performance and to assess the form propositions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Assist the Operations Director, together with other department heads, to determine the annual plans, strategy and tactics for the operations department
* To document and control relating to all relevant Operational Processes
* Effectively and compliantly manages the contracting of new and existing service providers and suppliers, negotiates rates and conditions within parameters set by the business including performance and SLAs
* Ensure that all documented quality specifications are maintained at manufacturers, suppliers and service centres
* Manage customer quality KPI's and complaints
* Maintain all quality documents, harmonised wherever required across the European business, and ensuring consistency in quality documents shared with outside parties
* Control, monitor and enforce pallet and materials quality across the UK & Ireland pool to ensure that the documented specifications for manufacture and service centre operations are adhered to
* Investigate all complaints and other queries at customers to ensure that they are resolved, reported and required corrective action taken, quickly and satisfactorily according to guidelines.
* Manage, coach and motivate the team, plan and secure the personnel capacity, to achieve their personal development and reach team goals
* Effectively monitor and support the quality of the output of the Quality and Depot Teams
* Identify and deliver, with input from the team, process improvements in order to streamline processes, improve effectiveness or bring costs down;
* Align on working procedures with other departments;
* Identify and work on projects, continuous and process improvements, incl. computer / IT systems;
* Manage supplier's and their KPI's with regular and effective account reviews.
* Work together with the Head of Asset Management, Head of Logistics and all relevant management/employee levels to ensure the teams work cohesively together.
* Maintain strong, collaborative relationships across the UK and wider European business.
* Collaborate with all projects being undertaken to improve systems, processes and reporting, in a harmonised way, driving through change where required.
* Produce annual budgets and deliver results according to these budgets.
ABOUT YOU
You will have extensive demonstrable experience within a fast paced service or logistics environment (preferably FMCG) managing multiple and/or remote teams as well as remote 3rd party operated service providers with a multimillion £ spend and can demonstrate an awareness of commercial and operating procedures. You will be motivated to meet all operating requirements and KPIs. You will also be passionate about attention to detail and the delivery of service, have an inquisitive mindset which leads you to question the status quo and offer considered solutions and/or ideas for improvement. You will be proactive, a team player, adaptable to change, and be comfortable in a fast paced and competitive environment. With strong communication skills you will be able to build good working relationships, both within our business, and with external stakeholders.
