I am excited to be working exclusively with this manufacturing business to recruit the newly created role of Head of Operations. As a leader in its field, they have already invested, and continue to invest heavily in new equipment and technology to give them cutting edge processes to create a strong and competitive position in their markets. The Head of Operations will be responsible for the management of the production and continuous improvement teams to deliver the business KPIs based on the business strategy. Reporting to the Managing Director you will be responsible for supporting them to provide direction across the site to improve operational visibility.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Provide strategic direction and leadership for the production and site CI operations.
- Key member of the Business Leadership Team to shape future growth.
- Manage Health and Safety issues for the department ensuring a Zero Accident mentality.
- Implement and optimise processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs and improve overall operational efficiency.
- Drive Operational Excellence development within the site to ensure effective problem-solving tools are utilised.
- Identify 100-Year fixes for operational problems using the appropriate Problem-Solving approach.
- Identification of all forms of waste reduction.
- Working with other department heads to maintain and improve quality service and cost.
- Provide robust people leadership, development, and direction on site to ensure all colleagues are capable with an emphasis on team development and succession planning.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards and environmental guidelines.
- Manage resources effectively to meet production targets.
- Sit within the Senior Leadership team, reporting operational results and impact to meet business objectives in line with the business’ strategy.
- Project managing, overseeing, and delivering change initiatives as required.
The ideal candidate will have proven and substantial knowledge of running a manufacturing site, ideally within FMCG or a manufacturing environment. You will be able to demonstrate both a track record in successfully managing teams in a busy production facility, excellent project management skills and an engineering aptitude. You will also ideally have formal health and safety management training and a background in working in a senior leadership role.
You must also demonstrate clear and responsible leadership to drive the best individual and team performance. You will be resilient with the ability to work well under pressure with a proactive approach to identifying and raising areas for improvements in efficiencies and performance. You will have proven knowledge of continuous improvement techniques and industry related experience using modern manufacturing techniques and systems. Key competencies will include excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. You will show strong analytical and critical thinking and be an inspiring authentic leader. The role offers at salary of up to £70k + 25 days holiday + pension.
