Head Of Operations And Warehousing

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Head of Operations & Warehousing to join this growing, dynamic, and highly profitable UK business. Established over 40 years ago, the business is the UK subsidiary of a European Plc.  UK turnover has increased in the last 4 years from £59m in 2019 to c£87m in 2023, and continues to perform strongly. 

As a product-design led business, they supply a diverse product portfolio under their own brands within the home improvement category. They service multiple channels in the B2B2C and B2B marketplace across the UK and Ireland.

The business is renowned for the quality of its products and for its excellent customer service. They have ambitious plans for continued growth. In order to support and deliver this agenda, they require an experienced Operations and Warehousing professional.

The Role

• Reporting directly to the Operations Director, the role will be part of the senior leadership team, with responsibility for delivering best in class operational capability to ensure business plans are delivered profitably.
• Taking the lead on warehousing, logistics and end to end customer service.
• Including responsibility for the operation of our wholly owned Distribution Centre which operates 24 hours per day, 5 days per week.
• Creation of an environment that delivers continuous improvement, refinement of warehousing and logistics infrastructure and developing strategies to achieve best-in class customer service.
• Experience of leading and developing a team to deliver against the plan, whilst leading and supporting change in a growing and evolving business.
• An opportunity to work with an experienced and high performing team of colleagues and direct reports.
• A key part of the business’ future succession planning, with potential for the successful candidate to join the Board within 18 months.

The Person

• You will be an articulate, intelligent and credible individual; ideally operating at a senior level.
• An end-to-end operations professional with extensive knowledge of distribution, warehousing, logistics and transportation.
• Experience of change management projects to support substantial growth.
• Enjoys the challenge of working within an entrepreneurial and hands-on environment.
• Credible, self-assured with a degree of humility.
• Must possess the necessary commercial, analytical, budgetary and strategic skills to be effective.
• A real collaborator and team player who can provide leadership both internally and externally.
• You will have an enquiring mind with the ability to test reality and challenge assumptions using detailed analytical methodologies.
