As the Head of Design and Transition, you play a crucial leadership role in overseeing the
design, transition and assurance processes within the the organisations IT service management
division.
Your focus is on leading a team to ensure the seamless integration of new, strategic IT
solutions for the organisation.
The postholder will be a key member of the divisional leadership team, providing strategic direction, anticipating challenges, driving performance and building the capability required to ensure the optimal delivery of new services into a live environment.
The Head of Design and Transition is accountable for the optimal performance of both the Service
Design and Transition and IT Change Management functions. The postholder will ensure their
department is motivated, clear on their objectives, focused on continuous improvement and
empowered to find creative solutions that will add value to the service.
Leading a team of skilled professionals in Design and Transition, you will orchestrate the
seamless Design and Transition of all new and changed IT solutions, ensuring that each new
service and technological change aligns with the organisations overarching technical and service
standards, process and policy.
The postholder will also be accountable for ensuring that IT
solutions are meticulously crafted to be fit-for-purpose, supportable and maintainable, thereby
guaranteeing enduring excellence in service delivery for the organisation.
Key responsibilities, accountabilities and duties
Leadership and strategy
Leads the Service Design and Transition and IT Change Management functions,
ensuring seamless integration into the operational environment.
Develops and implements Service Design and transition strategies and principles crucial
for creating end-to-end Service Designs that facilitate seamless service transitions into
live operations.
Evaluates the cost-effectiveness of different design and transition strategies and
recommends adjustments to improve value for money.
Works collaboratively with colleagues within IT Services and senior organisations
stakeholders, to prioritise requests that balance needs for strategic change, live service,
maintenance and investment in the organisations IT estate.
Communicates Service Design and Transition performance and improvements to the IT
Leadership Team and other key organiation stakeholders, presenting regular reports on
operational delivery and metrics.
Leads the design and Implementation of quality assurance strategies and processes to
ensure the delivery of high-quality services.
Leads the management of the Change Management process to ensure that changes to
the live IT estate are implemented in a controlled and assured manner to minimise
impact to our customers and services.
Experience and Qualifications:
Extensive experience in Service Design and Transition and Change Management.
Experience of engaging with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to a senior
level with the ability to clearly articulate risks and corresponding controls to support decision making.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with IT service management tools and technologies.
Advanced ITIL 4 qualification is essential
