Job description

Head of UKFSTax and Law Resource Management – L4 

The UKFS Tax and Law service line is undergoing significant growth. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Resource Management leader to join the team as the Head of UKFSTax and Law Resource Management to support and enable further growth. Reporting to the Director of UKFSResource Management and Tax and Law Operations Director the successful candidate will have a broad remit of Resource Management Operations with a strong focus on workforce chargeability and talent management for our staff being informed by the financial performance of the business day to day. This includes working closely with senior stakeholders to meet financial and non-financial objectives. In particular, to optimise the utilisation of resources whilst maintaining service delivery quality, improve performance and ensure Operational Excellence is maintained at all times.

 

An overview of the tasks is included below:
Resource Management

  • Lead the Resource Management team (on and offshore) day to day and provide coaching and mentoring to the team members.
  • Maintain an overview of the utilisation of professional staff across the industry group, balancing the resourcing needs of the business with individual career goals and service deliver quality.
  • Maintain an overview of the offshoring pipeline at the Global Delivery Service (GDS).
  • Manage the Resource Management team to ensure all resource activities are delivered to a high standard, pro-actively resolving issues and escalations.
  • Monitor and escalate availability of resources and work proactively with colleagues within FSO in the UK and EMEIA to ensure utilisation is maximised.
  • Liaise with the business, counsellors and HR to keep abreast of the development needs of all individuals in the group to ensure planning is aligned.
  • Participate in the arrangement of international mobility opportunities for professional staff.
  • Delivering a competent and credible Resource Management service within a highly pressured environment. 
  • Employing a strategic approach to; portfolio planning & management, deployment planning, resource continuity, resource allocation, clash resolution, unstaffed hours tracking and resolution, recruitment requirements validation & confirmation, the planning and allocation of mandatory learning, resource forecasting, workforce planning and supply v demand v budget.
  • Work closely with the Director of Resource Management in developing and enhancing the Resource management proposition. 
  • Experience of embedding transformational change through technology enhancements, process improvements and the ability to take individuals on the change journey. 

 

Chargeable hours Management

  • Monitor utilisation and chargeable hours performance against budget on a weekly/monthly/quarterly and annual basis using the EY Reporting tools. KPIs include chargeable hours per person per week, utilisations, time spent on non-chargeable activity, headcount and lost and recoverable hours. 
  • Review and monitor chargeable hours performance and utilisation forecasts on a weekly/monthly/quarterly and annual basis using Retain (Resource Management Tool) and EY Financial Reporting tools.
  • Hold regular update meetings with Operations Director, Business Leaders, and other key stakeholders to review management information and recommend action required. 
  • Understand and communicate key business developments which may affect upcoming performance.
  • Attend Leadership meetings weekly/monthly as required and provide updates on performance and forecasts.
  • Develop and deliver ad hoc reporting and analysis based on business requirements based on chargeables performance. 

 

Qualification & Experience

  • Experience of business/resourcing management, ideally gained within a partnership or a matrix structure.
  • Understanding of a professional services environment and/or Financial Services sector.
  • Previous experience of Talent Management desirable.
  • An effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills who can be robust and can manage multiple stakeholders simultaneously.
  • A high level of written and oral communications skills, ability to extrapolate the "message" from the numbers, client focused 
  • Resilient problem solver who can work in a team as well as autonomously.
  • Proven experience in managing staff at all levels and effective delegation of tasks.
  • A strong team player who is self-motivated, self-reliant and results orientated.
  • The ability to interpret large volumes of data into concise impactful actionable insights. 
  • Resilient and robust stakeholder management.
