Bury Council are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join their team, playing a crucial role in ensuring the safe and effective operation of the Council's Operations department. A key focus of this role will be supporting the Council's Housing function. Previously outsourced via Six Town Housing, the Council are working to onboard and integrate the function into their ways of working within Health & Safety.
Day to Day of the Role:- Coordinating Health And Safety measures across housing-related services to minimise risk, ensure compliance with legislation, and promote best practice.
- Supporting the development of arrangements and practices that mainstream Health And Safety and foster a positive, enabling culture.
- Developing, communicating, and advising on Health And Safety plans, procedures, policies, strategies, and arrangements.
- Delivering training to ensure capable and competent Health And Safety practice is mainstreamed by managers and their teams.
- Undertaking investigations and audits, and leading on the delivery of appropriate follow-up actions when necessary.
- Providing advice to Health And Safety colleagues, employees, and managers, as well as working closely with trade unions.
- Proven experience as a Health And Safety professional.
- Strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Ability to coordinate Health And Safety measures and ensure compliance with legislation.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, including trade unions, with public sector experience being an advantage.
