Health & Safety Specialist/Officer

What they need from you as Health & Safety Specialist/Officer:
- Minimum 2 years working experience in a Health, Safety and Environmental role
- A graduate or Chartered member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH)
- Experience of working with recognised systems such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 or ISO 50001
- Ability to explain and communicate HSE matters in language appropriate to all levels of the business through presentations, individual face to face meetings and small groups.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills
- Demonstrable ability to use the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Qualifications:
- A recognised qualification in Health and Safety such as a Bachelor of Science in Health and Safety, National Diploma or with a National General Certificate or equivalent, with a willingness to work towards a National Diploma or equivalent, if required
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) function
- Act as the competent person to identify hazards and evaluate the risks associated with the manufacturing operation
- Develop and maintain a robust risk assessment process
- Organize and undertake HSE tours or oversee /complete internal audits and advise the respective manager(s) of the findings and any actions required
- Manage company links with legal authorities, insurance and others; interpret their reports and as required proactively drive any actions required to completion
- When requested, provide daily HSE support to all employees such as operators, team leaders, supervisors and managers
- Provide HSE support for all projects as required or on solutions required to eliminate, substitute or control any HSE risks
- Conduct training and presentations for Health, Safety and Environmental matters and accident prevention
- Produce routine Health, Safety and Environmental management reports
- Perform and ensure that accident and incident investigation meet all legal requirements
- Develop, implement and review all Health and Safety or Environmental plans, procedures, works instructions and safe systems of work in the workplace
- Develop, implement and maintain emergency response protocols
