We are looking for support workers to provide high quality, consistent care to our clients. This work will be varied as we establish our care service.
Unisus is a rapidly expanding care service and gained a rating of GOOD in October 2019 with CQC. This complements the existing services that we offer for people with disabilities and health conditions in the North East.
Hours: To be agreed. Guaranteed hours will be offered to reliable, dedicated staff after a probationary period.
Pay: Up to £11.86 an hour for carers who have higher-level training and experience. We also pay travel time, waiting time and mileage between clients.
Training: All provided and is mandatory for the role
Location: Community based with work available in Newcastle and North Tyneside
Responsible to: Care Services Manager
Job Purpose: To enable clients with disabilities and health conditions, to lead healthier, safer and more fulfilling lives
Main duties and responsibilities include:
- To follow the clients’ care and support plans
- Listening and responding appropriately to client needs and any changes
- Reporting any safeguarding concerns
- To assist clients in maintaining their personal care and hygiene
- Helping clients to prepare food, eat and drink
- Accompanying clients to appointments and activities
- Supporting clients to access public transport
- Sleep-ins at clients’ homes
- Assisting clients with medication in accordance with care plans
- Liaising and cooperating with colleagues and attending team meetings
- Helping to maintain health and safety
- Respecting client confidentiality
- Acting at all times in accordance with Unisus' policies and procedures
- Supporting clients in work through our supported employment programme
- We believe that if we recruit people with the right values, we will achieve our aims. We can teach people new skills but we can’t teach people to care.
Carers must be flexible and able to work to suit the needs of the service
