The Candidate;
- NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety.
- Proven experience in SHEQ / H&S management or related role.
- In-depth knowledge of health, safety, environment, and quality regulations.
- Strong organisational skills, ability to work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and communicate effectively.
- Strong planning and prioritisation skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Proactive and dynamic mindset.
- Highly driven and enthusiastic.
- Numerical and IT literate.
- Must have flexibility for occasional travel to nationwide sites
Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate within a diverse team to ensure compliance with safety legislation and policies.
- Communicate company-related health and safety matters to the Board of Directors regularly.
- Provide expert advice and support on HSQE matters to employees and subcontractors.
- Champion HSQE best practices aligned with company values.
- Lead SHEQ audits and schedule inspections according to regulations.
- Consult with health and safety personnel on inspections, audits, and legislative changes.
- Drive Integrated Management System compliance and suggest improvements.
- Develop, monitor, and implement safety procedures, method statements, and risk assessments.
- Utilise electronic systems for effective HSQE performance management.
- Conduct audits and inspections of work sites, equipment, and facilities.
- Manage administrative duties supporting health and safety and compliance departments.
- Conduct investigations into accidents, incidents, and near misses.
- Prepare and deliver CDM (Construction Design and Management) reports to clients.
- Monitor and oversee H&S aspects of CDM projects, attending client meetings.
- Lead H&S audits with clients and deliver toolbox talks.
- Provide inductions to new staff and employees.
- Ensure H&S compliance at both Liverpool and Hereford properties.
- Manage and monitor H&S incidents, accidents, cable strikes, and complaints.
- Onboard contractors, ensuring safety documentation and insurances are in order.
- Monitor and close out outstanding H&S actions.
- Deliver continuous training to enhance HSQE awareness.
- Oversee all aspects of health and safety, including risk assessments, procedures, and training across multiple sites.
- Develop and implement an effective health and safety strategy aligned with regulations and best practices.
- Take charge of all health and safety matters, enforcing policies to enhance the safety culture throughout the operation.
- Collaborate with managers and employees to establish and maintain safe work systems and environments.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, implementing measures to prevent recurrence.
- Conduct training sessions and presentations on health and safety matters and accident prevention.
- Perform site audits to evaluate the effectiveness of the health and safety management system.
- Monitor, evaluate, and improve health and safety practices by identifying areas for enhancement and working with relevant managers and departments to implement necessary changes.
- Generate reports on health and safety awareness, issues, and statistics.
- Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
