Health & Safety Officer

Our client is small but growing business dedicated to providing a wide range of engineering related services. They are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Health and Safety Officer to join the team and ensure a safe working environment for all employees and clients. As a Health and Safety Officer, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining health and safety policies and procedures across the company. This role requires a proactive individual who can identify potential hazards, conduct risk assessments, and ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations. You will play a crucial role in promoting a culture of safety and ensuring the well-being of our team. Key Responsibilities include:

• Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and site inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation and regulations.
• Provide training and guidance to employees on health and safety practices and procedures.
• Investigate and report on incidents, accidents, and near misses, and recommend improvements to prevent recurrence.
• Maintain accurate records of health and safety activities, including training records, risk assessments, and incident reports.
• Collaborate with management and staff to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
• Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and changes in health and safety legislation.

Ideally you will have the following qualifications and Experience:

• Previous experience in a Health and Safety Officer or in a similar role.
• NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent qualification in occupational health and safety or be working towards certification.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
• Problem-solving skills and a proactive and detail-oriented approach with a strong commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage employees at all levels.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
