Job Title: Health & Safety Officer (Construction)
Location: Cork or Dublin (with travels across Ireland’s midland area)
Experience Level: 3-4 years in Health & Safety sector with a background in the construction industry
Salary Range: €45,000 - €50,000 per annum

About the Role:
We are currently seeking an experienced Health & Safety Officer specializing in construction to join our client’s team. This role will primarily involve ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations across construction sites located in Ireland’s midland area. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in promoting and maintaining a safe working environment, minimizing risks, and ensuring the well-being of all personnel involved in our projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement and oversee health and safety policies, procedures, and practices on construction sites to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of construction sites, identifying potential hazards, and recommending corrective actions to mitigate risks.
  • Provide guidance and support to site management and workers on health and safety matters, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, near misses, and other safety-related concerns, documenting findings and implementing preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop and deliver health and safety training programs, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns.
  • Review and approve method statements, risk assessments, and other safety documentation submitted by subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety-related activities, including incident reports, inspection findings, training records, and regulatory documentation.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities, clients, and other stakeholders on health and safety matters, responding to inquiries and ensuring compliance with contractual requirements.

Requirements:
  • 3-4 years of experience as a Health & Safety Officer in the construction industry, with a strong understanding of relevant legislation, regulations, and best practices.
  • NEBOSH or equivalent qualification in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Proven track record of implementing effective health and safety programs and initiatives in a construction environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to risk management.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Flexibility to travel between sites as required.
