Health & Safety Officer

Job Description 

Position: Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) Advisor 

Location: Belfast Docks

Job type: Contract 4 months

Salary:  Negotiable (Lodge provided if needed)

Overview of the role:

Industrial Services company has an opportunity for an experienced Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) Advisor to join the team, located at Belfast Dockyard

Dealing with but not limited to:

A strong onsite presence is required, with particular focus on interacting with our workforce of operatives performing manual labour onsite, as well as assisting and supporting our delivery team to help change and improve culture and behaviours. 

Role responsibilities

• Support organisational strategies to drive culture and engagement levels

• Conduct audits and inspections at the designated sites to ensure company policies and procedures are being followed

• Conduct occasional inhouse training for managers and operatives

• Create standard operating procedures, toolbox talks, reports, and safety alerts 

• Provide advice and support to all levels of the business on topics such as fire, work at height, confined spaces, HAVs, CDM, ergonomics, lone working, etc

• Keep up to date with legislation that will affect the company

• Investigate accidents and incidents and assign appropriate corrective actions

• Support all forms of the risk assessment, including general RAMS, COSHH, DSE, etc

Skills and experience

• Proven SHEQ experience; a minimum of three years’ experience is required, preferably within the industrial painting/Construction or scaffolding sector

• Experience of working with ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 management systems

• Proficient written and spoken communication skills, as you will be expected to explain SHEQ concepts to a wide variety of stakeholders

• Experience of working in scaffolding, industrial painting or construction sectors would be advantageous but is not essential

• NEBOSH certificate

• Ability to use Office 365 packages.
