Higher Level Teaching Assistant with a Therapeutic Approach

Role Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) with a strong Therapeutic Approach to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the learning and emotional needs of our students, working closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to deliver a comprehensive and supportive educational experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the planning and delivery of tailored educational programs that integrate Therapeutic Approaches.
• Work with individual students and small groups to support their academic and emotional development.
• Implement strategies to manage and support students with challenging behaviors.
• Collaborate with teachers and therapists to create a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.
• Provide one-on-one support to students with specific needs, helping them to engage fully in their learning.
• Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to assessment and planning meetings.
• Support the development of social skills and emotional regulation in students.
• Facilitate therapeutic activities and interventions as part of the school day.
• Engage with parents and caregivers to provide updates and support strategies for home.
• Maintain a safe and positive learning environment at all times.

Qualifications and Experience:

• HLTA qualification or equivalent.
• Experience working with children with SEN and EBD in a specialist setting.
• Knowledge of Therapeutic Approaches such as CBT, play therapy, or mindfulness.
• Strong understanding of child development and the impact of trauma on learning and behavior.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and resilient in challenging situations.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning.

Desirable:

• Additional training or qualifications in therapeutic interventions.
• Experience in a multi-disciplinary team.
• First Aid qualification.
