Highways and Utilities Manager
Field Based
Rotherham Site & Head office in Milton Keynes
Salary – up to £75,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Full time role.
We’re looking for a Highways and Utilities Manager to join us and help in the delivery of our developments pipeline of Trunk Road Service Areas and Motorway Service Areas.
What will your role look like?
You will work collaboratively with our internal customer, specialist supply chain partners and third parties to ensure the design and construction programme is delivered within the brief. You will be key in the preconstruction and construction stages, providing expertise and bringing a focus to quality, health, safety and environmental performance, programme management, design, innovation, value engineering and compliance.
You will be responsible for:
- The management and delivery of all highways, drainage, civil engineering and Utilities designs on our projects.
- Independently working on technical aspects including preparing design briefs, influencing and overseeing the delivery of design, specification, and technical approval submissions.
- Primary point of contact for all highway, drainage, civil engineering, and Utilities works, liaising with the preconstruction and construction teams, consultants and technical authorities.
- Developing and agreeing briefs with the design team and design suppliers.
- Main point of contact, managing and overseeing the technical approval of all highways, drainage, civil engineering, and Utilities works and agreements with the relevant authorities including, National Highways, local authorities and statutory undertakers and Utilities.
About you
Ideally we are looking for someone who has:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in Civil Engineering.
- Progressing towards chartered status or ideally Professional membership, MICE or similar affiliation
- SMSTS / CSCS
- Fully conversant with DMRB, Sewers for Adoption, Building Regulations, local authority, statutory undertakers, and industry design standards.
- Extensive knowledge, experience and expertise in UK highways, drainage, civil engineering, and Utilities design gained with a recognised consultant and or local authority.
- Experience in managing and delivering technical approvals and agreements for adaptable works with National Highways, local authorities, and statutory undertakers.
- Excellent working knowledge of National Highways standards and procedures.
- Understanding of building regulations and planning permission procedures and adoptable highways (Section 38 and 278) and drainage works (Section 104, 106 and 185)
- Programme management skills with competence in Microsoft Project and or Asta Powerproject
- Proficient in suite of Microsoft programmes (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Your technical knowledge extends to the use of AutoCAD, Civils 3D/Site 3D/PDS and competence in Micro-Drainage.
- Competency in the use of DMRB, MCDHW, TSRGD and Design Standards
- Experience of Traffic Regulation Orders
- Knowledge and understanding of CDM and all other H&S legislation, specifically the Designer’s obligations of CDM.
