Bridge is a peer support programme which links volunteers who may have recovered from alcohol and/or drug misuse with members who have, or who are recovering from serious substance misuse problems. Bridge also provides a range of activities, events and support and our outstanding teams include recovery workers who support our members to sustain their recovery, as well as staff who specialise in advice and guidance on benefits, housing, and employment.

We currently have a vacancy for a Housing Support Recovery Coordinator.  In this interesting and varied role, you will be responsible for assessing and coordinating drug and alcohol support alongside various housing options in Northamptonshire.  This is done with the aim of reducing the scale of unmet housing needs and reducing the rate of unplanned discharge from treatment, for people with a housing need.  The successful candidate is responsible for ensuring advice and information is provided effectively for external partners within Housing.  You will also provide drug and alcohol information and advice with a harm reduction emphasis to staff and members across Northamptonshire, providing every opportunity to access our service if required.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • ●Work alongside various temporary accommodation and Housing Support teams to ensure individuals accessing services have easy contact and access to Bridge.
  • ●Communicate effectively with housing colleagues to ensure they have information they need to support their customers.
  • ●Maintaining accurate up to date records on Carepath, the case management system.
  • ●Work closely with partner agencies ensuring our members are able to access treatment.
  • ●Liaise with partner agencies to facilitate access to support including Adult Social Care, Criminal Justice services, Health services, employment, and training agencies.
  • ●Perform robust assessments of referrals to Bridge ensuring that support is provided to those that meet the eligibility criteria.
  • ●To complete dynamic risk assessments and maintain own safety by following lone working procedures.
  • ●To adhere to good practice Safeguarding procedures with a positive risk-taking approach to ensure the wellbeing of vulnerable people.
  • ●Provide advice and guidance on managing debt effectively, claiming benefits and managing a household budget.
  • ●Provide support around social reintegration, helping people to reduce their social isolation and manage their tenancies more effectively.
  • ●Attend and contribute to panels and events that are relevant to the role.
  • ●Work with families and individuals who are deemed to be homeless or living in temporary accommodation.
  • ●Demonstrate an understanding of equal opportunities and other people’s behavioural, physical, social and welfare needs.

Key requirements

●Demonstrate a commitment to working with vulnerable people, including those with complex needs, at a pace and way in which they choose to work.

●Experience of data collection, administration and recording procedures with the ability to maintain accurate case notes and organise own case lade is essential.

●To understand the complex interdependence of homelessness, mental health and substance abuse and offending behaviour.

●Experience of successful collaboration with partner agencies, in order to develop contacts and networks across a wide range of local services.

●Coaching skills.

●Know how to promote the rights, responsibilities and informed choice of the people receiving support, acting as an advocate to promote independence.

●Be adaptable to changing and emerging needs, demonstrating flexibility and resilience in challenging situations.

●Natural relationship skills, including empathy, caring, acceptance, mutual affirmation, encouragement of risk taking, supporting and constructive.

●Professional curiosity, with the ability and willingness to learn and apply learning.

●Full Driving License.

●GCSE Grade 5/C in Maths & English. A relevant degree qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.
