Birmingham City University is a large and diverse place to study right in the heart of the city and we currently have an exciting role for a BCU graduate to join us as an HR Administrator who will take on a fast-paced and varied role supporting the Human Resourcing Admin team in delivering a wealth of activities throughout the year.
Working closely with the Human Resources team, this post will provide administrative support to our Human Resources Admin Team and help manage our casual worker applications, Data Quality issues, UKVI Compliance, Data Input using ERP, and general correspondence.
If you are the sort of person who enjoys a challenge, who likes variety, and being a real team player, this could be your role. It will give you a strong grounding in HR Operational Delivery.
Provide information and advice to managers and staff on routine HR administration issues including advice on terms and conditions of employment, policies, and procedures.
Maintain high levels of customer service and ensure that enquiries receive a timely, accurate, and helpful response.
Produce regular management information reports. This may include (but is not limited to) reports on absence levels, probation periods, expiry of fixed terms contracts etc. Utilise this data to prioritise activities and escalate points of concern to HR colleagues for further guidance as appropriate.
Undertake a full range of HR Administration to a high standard including letters, contracts, variations to contracts, pay changes etc. ensuring these are processed accurately and updated with payroll in line with agreed timescales.
Input data into the HR information system and ensure records are maintained accurately and kept up to date.
Liaise with payroll and ensure that starters, leavers, and changes to contracts are processed accurately in accordance with agreed payroll deadlines. Deal with pay queries and liaise with HR colleagues and payroll regarding any under or over-payments.
The successful applicant will:
- Recently achieved a degree from BCU (Graduate 2023)
- An understanding of what good customer service looks like and a positive 'can-do' attitude
- IT skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Able to demonstrate an organised approach to work and the ability to prioritise different tasks
- Ability and aptitude to learn new skills quickly
- Good attention to detail and accuracy
