REPORTS TO: Strategic HR Manager
JOB PURPOSETo assist in the delivery of a highly effective and responsive Human Resource (HR) service across the Council providing support and developing expertise in the full range of HR issues including, application and interpretation of employment legislation, terms and conditions, HR policies and procedures, organisational change, redeployments, redundancy and TUPE.
MAIN ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To provide advice and support to staff as appropriate, ensuring policies and procedures are consistently applied across the Council
- Be responsible for the leave administration and procedures associated with our Family friendly polices including maternity, paternity, adoption, shared parental leave; providing advice to employees and managers across the Council as necessary
- Day to day monitoring and responding in a timely manner to general HR enquiries and emails (Duty HRBP email inbox), in liaison with HR Business Partners
- Working in partnership with HR Business Partners to support managers in effectively managing absence, including making timely medical referrals and ensuring correct sickness notification procedures, in accordance with the Council s Managing Absence Policy
- To keep up to date with relevant HR legislation and best practice, developing practical knowledge of managing disciplinary, grievance, capability, redeployment, redundancies and TUPE. Responsible for maintaining the Employment Legislation tracker and highlighting key changes to the wider HR Team
- Working with the wider HR Team, monitoring, reviewing and updating all HR policies and ensuring these are in line with current legislation and best practice guidance.
